| Definition: | Members of the Mutator family of terminal inverted repeat (TIR) transposon are usually long but are also highly divergent, either sharing only terminal Gb&C nucleotides, or with the Gb&C nucleotides absent. The length of the TSD (7-11 bp, usually 9 bp) remains probably the most useful criterion for identification. |
